One of the first questions people usually ask us is, “Why did you name the company Blue Lotus Leadership Solutions…what’s the significance of the blue lotus?” Nearing the completion of the Executive MBA program at the University of Maryland, it became clear that successful businesses, the one’s where you could feel the commitment and joy of all the team members, were the businesses that made an intentional and sincere effort to show appreciation for their workforce.
No, this didn’t always show up as extrinsic motivators such as monetary rewards and public recognition, but it did always show up in the way people were encouraged to share their ideas and take risks. It was inextricably linked to the company culture and the workplace safety senior leaders established for their team members. In short, it was intentional, caring, respectful, encouraging, and consistent.

Lotus flowers have been associated with wisdom for centuries, and the Egyptian Blue Lotus is no different. The plant grows out of muddy waters of the Nile River. As it emerges, the waters cleanse it revealing a beautiful and brilliant flower that blooms in many vibrant shades of blue above the water’s surface. One example of our community involvement is through Good Trouble Maryland, which is a grassroots youth-led think tank and advocacy group. Our partnership helps through mentorship and donations as they work to end the systemic racism impacting children of color in K-12 education.
Another example is through our local branch of SHRM, a professional human resources organization. Currently, Blue Lotus Leadership Solutions serves as the Director of Diversity, equality, and Inclusion. This position allows us to helps other Maryland business leaders build a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

I have always been drawn to opportunities to inspire, create lasting, positive change, and improve the human condition. That’s what drew me to human resources, a path I’ve followed throughout my professional life.
I founded Blue Lotus Leadership Solutions to develop talent, create change, and help organizations achieve their goals. I love the challenge of finding the best solutions for each situation and inspiring change that benefits people as well as organizations.
I have an Executive Master of Business Administration, Leadership and Human Capital from the University of Maryland in addition to my 22 years of leadership experience in the Air Force. However, the thing that stuck with me most was a lesson from my grandfather. He taught me always to serve to improve communities of people, and that’s the lesson I live by today.
